Answers :
While on the call that you want to transfer, dial FEATURE 70 (Or press the TRANSF button below your display, if it's there), dial the extension number to transfer too, and then hang up.
How do I make a Conference Call ?
To make a conference call on your Meridian Norstar* phone system, follow these instructions : Make or receive the first call that will be part of your conference. Put it on hold. Then make or receive your second call, and while you're on the line press FEATURE 3 (Or the conference button if you have one programmed on your phone) followed by pressing the button with the other caller that is on hold. You are now all together. (Important : You usually need atleast 2 Intercom buttons to be able to make a conference call) If you press HOLD while you are in a conference call, the 2 other callers will remain together and you will have left the conference call. You can press any of the 2 conferenced lines to go back into the conference call.
Changing the time on your Norstar* phone system is not always as easy as it may seem. The newer software of Meridian Norstar* phone systems has an easier way to change it. Click here for those details. Otherwise, contact us.
What is my voicemail password ?
If you are logging into your voicemail for the first time, your password is probably 0000 . Please Click here for instructions on initializing your voicemail box. If 0000 doesn't work, you either don't have a mailbox assigned to that phone, or the password needs to be reset. (If you don't have a mailbox attached to that phone, it will say LOG instead of PWD when you press Feature 981) Please have your system administrator Contact Us if you need help resetting your mailbox password.
Why does my phone say "message for you" even though there are no messages in my voicemail?
There's a rarely used feature in the Norstar system that will leave a "message for you" written on the display even though there are no messages in your mailbox. This has been caused by an internal user accidentally pressing the MSG button under their display while trying to call you. To get rid of the "Message for You" that is written on your display, dial FEATURE 65, then press the HOLD button. It will say message erased. If it still says "message for you" on the display, repeat the previous step until it's gone.
How do I program the buttons on my Norstar* telephone ?
With the exception of line buttons, intercom buttons, and the handsfree button, all buttons on your Norstar phone can be reconfigured easily. There are 3 types of things that can be programmed on these buttons.
External Speed Dials : This will dial an external phone number.
Internal Speed Dials : This will dial an internal Extension number. (Call a phone that's part of the same system)
Feature Codes : You can program any of the many feature codes onto a button. Commonly used codes that are programmed on buttons are Voicemail (Feature 981), Transfer (Feature 70), Conference (Feature 3), and Paging (Feature 631).
For Detailed instructions on programming one of these onto your phone buttons, click here!
Where is the Feature button ?!
The Feature button, which is used for all Norstar Feature codes and button programming is located above the dialpad, near the hold and rls buttons. On French phones the feature button may be identified as FONCTION. On newer T model phones the feature button has been replaced with a small grey button with the Nortel Logo on it but no writing. (A blue Circly thing, near the 2 orange buttons for HOLD and Hang up)
How do I check my voicemail messages from outside the office?
Very easily ! The magic keys are **. Basically, you call into the office. If the auto attendant answers, dial ** and follow the prompts. If someone answers, ask them to transfer the call to your phone. Once you hear your mailbox greeting, dial ** . (VERY important to do this WHILE your greeting is playing)
Once you have dialed **, it will prompt you for your mailbox number followed by the password and the number sign. So in one shot, you dial your extension number, password, and then press #. You will be logged into your mailbox. Just follow the recorded prompts like you would with a cell phone.
How do I change the greetings of my automated attendant ?
The automated attendant greetings need to be programmed a very specific way. Usually, the rare times this needs to be changed, we come in. Most people that attempt to modify the automated attendant themselves usually end up disabling it altogether or make it pretty much non functional. Because of this, we are not putting up the steps. (And it's slightly different for every company) If you already know how to do it and just have a quick question, feel free to contact us. You can schedule us to come in anytime to help you re-record these messages, all you need to do is prepare the texts that you want to have played and we'll do the rest for you!
